About the Association

The association for Intellectual Property (VIE) is the Dutch Group of AIPPI, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. AIPPI (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle), is the world’s leading International Organization dedicated to the development and improvement of laws for the protection of intellectual property. It is a politically neutral, non-profit organization, based in Switzerland with over 9000 Members representing more than 125 countries.

The Dutch association has over 400 members working in private practice, industry, academia and judiciary. It organizes the annual IP Symposium in Zeist and various member meetings on currant topics as well as young member events. Each year members of the Dutch Group actively contribute to the study questions of existing national laws and propose measures to achieve harmonization of these laws on an international basis. The Association regularly advises the government on legislation in the field of IP. Representatives of the Association participate on standing advisory committees of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, advising on Dutch intellectual property legislation.

Membership

If you are interested in intellectual property protection on a national and international level, you are welcome to join the association. Each member of the Dutch Group is a member of the International Association as well. Please be aware that the working language of the activities in The Netherlands is Dutch primarily.

The annual membership fee 2020 is €200,00. This includes the international membership fee of CHF 190. For junior members under 35 the annual membership fee is €90,00 including the international fee of CHF 95. Academics, judiciary and members working at patent and trademark offices the annual fee is €135,00 (including the international fee of CHF 90)

Industry and organizations not working in the field of IP are able to become promotor of the association for an annual fee of €440.
